Milford Schools Rated Excellent -- Again!

The Milford Exempted Village School District is EXCELLENT as rated by the Ohio Deparment of Education.  For the past five out of six years, Milford Schools have attained the highest rating.  For the 2005-2006 school year, the district received the Excellent rating by its high "performance index" score.  This score indicates that a large number of Milford students not only meet the benchmarks in the variety of assessments, but they score in the advanced areas to boost the district's score.

Neighborhood schools mean that Paxton Lake's K - 6 students are served by nearby McCormick Elementary.  An outstanding and dedicated teaching staff and involved parents have combined to make McCormick one of the TOP TEN ELMENTARY SCHOOLS in the STATE!

The district scored 23 out of 25 on performance indicators for the 2005-2006 school year.  The district also meets all components of Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP).  The 25 indicators include:  test scores and graduation and attendance rates.

During the 2005-2006 school year, 20.5% of seniors took at least 1 AP exam.  Milford High School had 149 students take 234 exams in 2006 and 88% of those students scored 3 or higher. In fact 23 % of the total had a score of 5, 35% had a score of 4, (that is 58% that scored a 5 or 4, equivalent to a high A and low A in college) and 30 % had a score of "3."  We also had 16 AP Scholar, 3 Scholars with Honors, and 9 Scholars with Distinction for 2006.

Milford High School students take the PSAT for entrance into the National Merit Scholarship program.  In recent years, Milford students have succeeded on this test and advanced to receive scholarship awards and academic merit commendations.  Each year numerous students advance to the National Merit Semi-Finalist and Finalist categories.

In addition to its academic offerings, Milford Schools have earned an outstanding reputation for performing arts programs and athletic opportunities.  Milford's Band program requires commitment and dedication from students and parents.  The Marching Band frequently earns the highest ratings in competitions against other schools.  In the 2006 season, the band advanced to the semi-finals of the Band of America competition in Indianapolis.  Milford was the only southwest Ohio school to reach that final grouping of schools.
